Spurred by the Supreme Court interim relief, Jagmohan Dalmiya had a crack at his detractors at the helm of BCCI.

In a letter addressed to the BCCI, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has asked the apex body to stick to the present ballot-box system instead of the voice-voting that BCCI is proposing to introduce during the Board’s Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai tomorrow.

Dalmiya hasn’t signed the letter personally, but the letter resisting the BCCI move has reportedly been shot off at his behest. The CAB will be represented by former BCCI joint-secretary Gautam Das Gupta at the meeting.

The BCCI members cannot force a voice-voting because it requires a unanimous decision. Even if there’s resistance from one member, the move would fall flat.

‘‘Some members want to change the system to five votes to make the case easier for those who support voice-voting as there are lesser chances of mobilising members five to oppose the move,” said a top Cricket Association of Bengal official, demanding anonymity.
