Butt charged for criticizing umpire

Pakistan's vice captain, Salman Butt has been charged for criticising umpiring decisions during the ongoing test series against South Africa.

Pakistan’s vice captain, Salman Butt has been charged with a level two offence for criticising umpiring decisions at press conferences during the ongoing test series against South Africa.

Match referee, Alan Hurt charged Butt with public criticism and inappropriate comment on a match related incident or match official.

The penalty prescribed for the offence is a fine of 50 per cent of the player’s match fees or upto their full match fees and or a one test or two one day matches ban.

Butt will attend a hearing after the fourth day’s play in the second test on Thursday.

The Pakistani opener had criticised some umpiring decisions in the first and second Tests of the current series.

Pakistan lost the first in Karachi by 160 runs and is facing an uphill task to save the second test.

Butt had said that there had been some decisions where Pakistan had been unlucky.
