With the first phase of polling for the assembly elections over, the countdown for the Budget session has begun. The session will begin February 25 with the President’s address to the joint House. The entire session had to be deferred because of the EC’s three-phase polling for Bihar and Jharkhand Assemblies.
So, the time crunch has forced the government to schedule the Rail budget on a Saturday. The General Budget would be presented on February 28. The first half of the Budget session, said Azad, would continue till March 24. The MPs would reassemble after a short recess on April 17 and the session may continue beyond May 13.
