The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got a major setback on Wednesday when the Gwaltoli police arrested Sunil Babu, its candidate from Arya Nagar, on the basis of non-bailable warrants issued against him on Wednesday in a case registered against him three years ago.

Sunil Babu faces charges under Sections 307, 336, 427, 452 and others for firing shots and creating ruckus in the Gwaltoli office of Samajwadi Party leader Suresh Yadav in 2004. Sources said a non-bailable warrant had been pending against him for the past one year. They said the nomination papers filed by Babu did not mention the case. As soon as Babu was arrested, his supporters gathered outside the Gwaltoli police station and tried to forcibly get him released.
