Mumbai, January 10: The rush to cash in on the software boom continues unabated, even as the Bombay Stock Exchange has become proactive in warning investors. This time around, the exchange has released a list of names of companies which are in the process of registering themselves as software companies, warning the investors to be careful while trading in such scrips.

A good number of the 27 companies whose names were made public today are in the process of obtaining permission from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) and the BSE for a name change, BSE officials said.pOfficials from the exchange said that most of them have obtained shareholders’ approval at general body meetings and have applied to the exchange for listing, on the basis of the change in their focus of activities. But most of them have not received the BSE approval, "as they have not complied with certain requirements", exchange officials said. Last January, 23 companies had gone in for a name-change, the list of which was released in December that year.

Out of the 27 names around, nine are finance companies as testified to by their names. There are two information technology companies also in the list, which are still going in for a name-change. Sujata Infotech Ltd is renaming itself ACI Infocom Ltd while World Wide Technologies Ltd is transforming itself into Nods Worldwide Ltd.
