More than 80 BPOs in Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai have teamed up with the government and local police to find better ways to monitor their transportation and security systems.

On the back of recent incidents that have threatened the safety of BPO employees, firms like Technovate, vCustomer, Genpact, EXL, Efunds, Amex, Convergys, Patni, Eserve International, HCL, CE Infosystems, McKinsey, Hewitt, Cadence, Flextronics, Agilent and WNS Global met with Ministry of Home Affairs officials on Thursday.The meetings in Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi, were conducted by NASSCOM, the apex association of IT and BPO companies, which now plans to take the consultation process to Pune and other cities.Muktesh Chandra, Additional Commissioner – Crime, Delhi Police, A.K. Mishra, Deputy Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Hanif Qureshi, SSP, Gurgaon, were among those who met the company representaties along with Nandkumar Saravade, Director, Cyber Security, NASSCOM.

‘‘The police emphasised on the need to have registration and verification of support staff,’’ NASSCOM said in a statement on Thursday. ENS
