New Delhi, January 17: The working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which meets here on January 22, is expected to discuss and pass budgets for the Indian team’s tour to Sharjah in April and the Australian cricketers’ tour to India during February-April. Besides, the budgets for the seminar on training of coaches and for the National Cricket Academy for the year 2001-2002 are expected to be approved by the working committee.
As per the budget the Indian cricket team will get a guarantee money of Rs 40 lakh per each of the three Tests and Rs 35 lakh for each of the five one-day internationals. The home team has been assured a sum of Rs three lakh for the three three-day fixtures. The Australian Cricket Board will get a guarantee money of A$ 43535 per day (for 20 days, which includes the three Tests and five one-day internationals during their 53-day tour.
The BCCI has also made a provision for ‘professional fees’ of eight weeks for Andrew Leipus (physio) and two months for coach John Wright during the Australian series. The total expenditure of the BCCI for conduct of the 10-day conditioning camp in Chennai prior to the series against Australia is expected to be around Rs 1.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, a three-day seminar on the ‘training of coaches’ is scheduled to be held here during February 19 and 21 when as many as seven foreign consultants and 60-odd coaches are expected to participate. Rodney Marsh, John Wright, Andrew Leipus and Geoff Marsh are expected to take part in the proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Delhi and District Cricket Association President Arun Jaitley has been invited to attend the meeting as a special invitee as it is the Board’s convention to invite the President of the host association at its working committee meeting, informer BCCI vice-president C K Khanna here today.
