PUNE, July 12: Power supply in some areas in the city was badly affected on Sunday due to major technical faults at MSEB sub stations at Hanlay and Khadki.

The entire area along the Pune-Solapur Road from Wanowrie to Hadapsar bus depot went without power supply since morning as the supply from the Hanlay sub station was disrupted owing to major fault in the cable wires.

The MSEB officials were struggling to locate the fault in the cable line till late evening as the area plunged into darkness causing inconvenience to local residents who complained of constant erratic power supply during last three days.

When contacted, the officials at the MSEB Hadapsar complaint centre conceded that during the last three days the supply in the locality had been highly irregular following various technical problems.

“The power supply to the locality has been severely affected due to multiple problems like failure of cable line, defects in transformer and other line problems. We are making all possible efforts to bring the supply back to normal,” the officials said.

In Khadki, the residents in some localities including Bombay Sappers had to bear with the power cut for over 10 hours since morning after MSEB 512 sub station developed major fault.

If the power cut was not inconvenient enough, the residents were further puzzled by MSEB officials who refused to acknowledge that there was any fault at the substation.

When contacted by The Indian Express, MSEB staff at the Vishrantwadi complaint centre said that the supply had been disrupted due to short circuit in a component of the transformer at 512 sub station.

However, when contacted, the officials at 512 sub station refused to admit any fault in the transformer and maintained that there was no snag in the line either.

“The complaint centre staff at Vishrantwadi shrugged off their responsibility and directed us to call the 512 sub station. The staff at the latter, on the other hand, asked us to call back the Vishrantwadi complaint centre saying that they were not dealing with repairs,” said an aggrieved resident from Khadki.
