The BJP is planning to make a major political issue of the UPA government’s education policy at tomorrow’s meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education.

Five ministers from BJP-ruled states are likely to raise slogans and highlight the “better education module” pursued during NDA rule at the meeting. As long as this group of ministers is present, the meeting is likely to be stormy.

In 2004, the ministers from these states had raised a furore over what they described as HRD Minister Arjun Singh’s “partisan” education policy. After attracting enough media attention, they had walked out of the meeting, and boycotted the rest of the day’s proceedings. A similar walkout may be tried out tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the NCERT executive council today passed the revised National Curriculum Framework.
