BJP to hold brainstorming camp minus pagers, mobiles

Among the prominent members, who will address the meet, will be national president Kushabhai Thakre, national general secretary Venkaiah Naidu, All India general secretary Narendra Modi, Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Chand Sharma and BJP ideologue K. Govindachari. The two-day regimen will begin at 10 in the morning and continue till 10 in the evening. And workers have been warned against bringing in their cellular phones or pagers, as they are expected to concentrate on the meet and pay it their `undivided attention’.

According to Delhi State President Mange Ram Garg: “Only if they forget the outside world, will they be able to concentrate on the meeting. The aim of the camp is to instill self-confidence in our workers. They will go from door-to-door and listen to people’s grievances, apprise them of our achievements and also compile data for the forthcoming elections. It is just a routine camp and there is nothing special about it.”

However, it is after a gap of more than six years that such a camp is being organised for the Delhi unit.

In fact the process of compiling data regarding the presidents who will be manning the city’s 8,000 polling stations has already started and within a few days, workers are expected to begin their door-to-door campaign. A total of 393 people, including the nine Delhi MPs, 46 MLAs, 82 councillors, 139 Delhi Mandal presidents, 35 Rajya Parishad members, 16 life member in-charges, 16 voter list in-charges, representaiives in NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board, Pradesh Executive committee members and the Delhi District presidents and general secretaries will be attending the camp.
