PALAMPUR, June 15: Former Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Sat Mahajan has accused BJP Members of Parliament of ignoring the interests of the state.
Speaking to mediapersons here last evening, Sat Mahajan wanted to know the fate of various issues including broad gauge line for Pathankot-Jogindernagar section, grant of scheduled tribe status to Gaddis and Gujjars of the lower merged areas, initiation of Chamera Project-II, one rank one pension, and an increase in state’s quota for recruitment to armed forces from the existing 5.25 per cent to 7.25 per cent.
He regretted that Union Railway Minister who visited Himachal recently did not say anything regarding the broad gauge line in district Kangra. The former Congress MP claimed that survey for the same had been completed during his tenure. "Why the work on Chamera Project-II has not been started though the BJP men in Himachal had been crying hoarse to make the state an electric state?’ questioned Sat Mahajan pointing that the implementation of these decisions might not reach a stage where they again have to be reviewed keeping in mind the accelerating costs. He disclosed that a resolution regarding ST status to Gaddis and Gujjars to this effect was unanimously sent by the State Assembly to the concerned union ministry during previous congress regime he revealed that implementation of decision in this regard was in advantage stage.
Replying to a question, former PCC president said the Congress lost four seats in Kangra district by a margin of 283 votes.adding that the Congress had many options if it had to form the government.
He expressed ignorance when asked who would be the next HPCC president.
