Angered by Centre’s announcement on reduction of petrol prices, the BJP on Wednesday moved the Election Commission demanding action against the Congress and the UPA government for violation of the model code of conduct.

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora’s statement on reduction of petrol prices after assembly polls amounts to a clear violation of the model code of conduct, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters in New Delhi.

A BJP delegation led by Naqvi submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami demanding action against the Congress and the UPA government.
