A disgruntled Haryana BJP can seek solace from the fact that it would contest the Lok Sabha elections on majority of seats in the state. The BJP is expected to contest six out of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana. Its alliance partner, Indian National Lok Dal INLD, will have to be content with the remaining four.
The seats to be shared have also been tentatively worked out, said sources. The BJP is likely to contest the Ambala, Karnal, Sonepat, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Rohtak Lok Sabha seats. BJP has just one sitting MP seat from Sonepat, while the INLD failed to open its account during the last Lok Sabha elections. Kurukshetra, Bhiwani, Sirsa and Hisar seats will be left for the INLD to contest.
INLD leaders are so far tightlipped on the seat sharing. If sources are to be believed, the Indian National Lok Dal is unlikely to put up a resistance to this 6:4 ratio heavily tilted towards the BJP.
An INLD leader quipped, 8220;It is the NDA which will contest all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.8221; The two newly-formed alliance partners are now viewing the prospects of winnable candidates for the elections. Given the bitter-sweet relation between the BJP and the INLD in Haryana, the state unit of the BJP is unhappy with the alliance worked out by the party high command with the motive to defeat the Congress. The alliance is also planning a joint rally in November at Sonepat. Prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani, INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala and other senior leaders of both the parties will participate in the rally.
