
Bangalore, March 6: Karnataka spinners — offie Anand Yalvigi and skipper Sunil Joshi — skillfully planned the destruction of Bihar as the visitors face an imminent defeat on the penultimate day of the Group C Ranji Trophy Super League tie at M Chinnaswamy Stadium today.
First Yalvigi, with his first five-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy, sent the Bihar tail in its sling to end the visitors’ first innings at 227, giving holders Karnataka a lead of 270. Joshi, in the second innings, captured two crucial wickets to have Bihar reeling at 120-6 at the end of day’s play. The visitors still need 151 runs to avoid an innings defeat. Martin crosses 1000-run mark in Ranji season
Vadodara’s Jacob Martin became the fifth batsman in Ranji Trophy history to reach 1000 runs in a season. He achieved the feat in the course of his second innings against Punjab at Vadodara on Saturday.
Martin now has scored 1018 runs and needs just 17 runs to surpass the record of late Raman Lamba of 1034 runs in 1996-97 season. Baroda has still one more match to play against Hyderabad in the Super League.
