NEW DELHI, November 30: Former champions and strong contenders PGDAV College made a rousing start to their campaign in the 12th Zakir Husain memorial football tournament with a 9-0 rout of Satyawati College in their Group B league match at Ambedkar Stadium here today.
Hitender Rawat 2, Mukesh Negi 3, Rakesh Negi 2, Man Mohan and Dharmender were the scorers for the winners who led 4-0 at the breather.
In a Group D encounter, Hans Raj College defeated Swami Shradhanand College 2-0. Mohit and Rangam scored a goal each for the winners, both coming in the second half.
Dyal Singh College struggled to beat Shaheed Bhagat Singh College Evening 3-1, after leading by a solitary goal at half time, scored by Rajesh Sharma. Amit Sharma and Mahesh found the target once each in the second half for Dyal Singh while Raj Kumar reduced the margin for the losers.
