Harbhajan Singh will miss India’s cricket tour of Pakistan early next year following yesterday’s operation on his spinning finger. The rehabilitation programme would keep the off-spinner from taking the field for five months, team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus said here today.

Leipus said the bowler would have his finger plastered for the next two weeks and the rehabilitation programme would last atleast three months before he could start bowling.

Harbhajan has been suffering from a ligament injury since the end of World Cup in South Africa early this year. He skipped a tri-nation limited overs series in Bangladesh but opted for physiotherapy instead of surgery.

Leipus said the Harbhajan would have been fit to play by this time had he opted for operation then but his decision to go for phyiotherapy was not wrong.

“The finger was fine before he left India,” Leippus said. “But it flared up again after the first Test.”
