The tremors of the landmine attack on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister can be felt in West Bengal now. A panicky State Home Department, following intelligence reports that the ultras behind the Purulia blast last week had taken lessons from the group that targeted Chandrababu Naidu, is planing an elaborate security ring around CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.

According to its plan, a separate police force will keep an eye on Bhattacharya’s security, on the lines of the Special Protection Group (SPG) that provides security cover for the PM.

JAMSHEDPUR: Suspecting PW’s hand in the Purulia blast, police here have detained eight youths who were found moving in a suspicious manner in a Naxalite-infested forest on the Bengal-Jharkhand border. DSP S.K. Sinha said on Wednesday that the East Singhbhum police, along with the CRPF, launched a massive hunt after a tip-off by villagers that eight Bengali-speaking youths, aged 25-30 years, have taken shelter in a school in Punsa village.
