Behind Joshi CD: RSS hints at high, mighty in Gujarat

The reference assumes importance considering that Vaidya’s son Manmohan is the Sangh’s Prant Pracharak of Gujarat.

Asked if he was referring to Modi, Vaidya said, ‘‘It is for you to infer. The Indian Express only has discovered the Gujarat angle (The report on the press conference: ‘I am not the woman in the CD’). I don’t know who could actually be the Macbeth here. I have just spoken about a possibility.’’

Writes Vaidya: ‘‘On January 2, the World RSS meet was suddenly eclipsed by the Joshi episode. I had also received a letter three months ago, but I had torn it to pieces. But then there was the talk of Joshi’s CD. From what I heard, I developed a feeling that someone from Delhi could be behind this. But when I heard that this story had a Gujarat angle, I was shocked. The Gujarat angle means some important people in the Gujarat government. I was reminded of the character of Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello. Could there be an Iago in the BJP? My heart doesn’t feel like accepting it. But then I remembered Shakespearian characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, who killed the king by deceit. Ambitions of a revenge-filled man and jealousy together give rise to sin. But Macbeth eventually met a tragic end. Could there be a Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in Gujarat? One doesn’t feel like believing. But does everything happen as per one’s own wish? I am sure Joshi will eventually come out of this artificial darkness. The lady from Baroda, who spoke of a threat to her family, will also come out unscathed. We don’t actually know of any Macbeths being really there. If they really are, all we can do is pray to the God that they end their wickedness and prevent their own tragedies.’’

RSS observer Dilip Deodhar says Vaidya’s article clearly points to a power struggle between the RSS and the BJP.

‘‘He has clearly indicated that the conspiracy was done by someone belonging to the BJP. Modi has become very powerful and there is a running feud between Modi and the RSS,’’ he said.
