There will be some off-field action as well on Monday at the Karnataka State Cricket Association office. The technical committee of the BCCI, headed by former captain Sunil Gavaskar, will meet in the morning to decide among other things, the playing conditions of the New Zealand Test series and the tri-series also involving Australia. Also figuring on the agenda is a discussion on the foreign team that is slated to play the Duleep Trophy this season. Incidentally, in its working committee meeting held last week in Chennai, the BCCI decided to revert to the old zonal format of the Duleep Trophy after a ‘‘not so fruitful’’ experience with a ‘mix-n-match’ arrangement last season. In the afternoon, BCCI secretary SK Nair who will be part of the technical committee’s deliberations will meet with the senior players — skipper Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble. The purpose of the meet is to deliberate on the proposed graded system of payments to the players on seniority basis. The seniors had submitted a proposal couple of years ago to do away with disparity in the payment structure.
