The meeting between the Prime Minister8217;s special envoy on nuclear affairs Shyam Saran and Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith got more than its share of media attention because of the Australian drawing attention to the policy of the Labour Government of not supplying uranium to countries that are not NPT signatories. The meeting, which took place before the Perth Test between India and Australia, also discussed the issue of the Nuclear Suppliers8217; Group8217;s support to India. In between the pair found time to discuss cricket and they looked forward to an 8220;exciting and friendly8221; encounter after the Sydney fiasco. Incidentally, the meeting was held at Perth.
