Having been certified as emotionally unstable, by a psychiatrist, a senior scientist of BARC, Ambarish Bose, 44, leaped to his death from his third floor flat at the BARC complex in Anushakti Nagar on Thursday.

Bose was a senior scientific officer in BARC’s material processing department. He jumped from his flat at around 1.45 am today while his wife, Sharmila, and 13-year-old son were asleep in the apartment.

ACP Suhas Patil of the Trombay police zone, who also visited spot this afternoon, said Bose did not leave any suicide note. ‘‘However, we have come to know that he was in depression and was undergoing psychiatric treatment for several years,’’ said ACP Patil.

A BARC official, reasoned that since Bose was getting all his promotions in due course of time, it is unlikely that he was depressed due to office problems. Trombay police has ruled out any foul play in the case.
