
AMBALA, Nov 18: Leaders of Central Bank of India Employees Union Haryana, led by union general secretary, staged a dharna in front of the regional office in Ambala Cantt today to express resentment over the retrospective changes in the promotion policy signed by the management in September last.
General secretary Mangat Sharma pointed out that the management had signed the agreement with the so-called recognised majority federation of the All India Central Bank Employees Federation without taking into account the repercussions it would have on the future of bank employees. He warned that the changed policy would render about 1,100 officers surplus. He said that there was already a backlog of more than 1,800 vacancies lying unfilled.They have threatened to stage a dharna in front of the zonal office on Nov 27.
Armyman Killed: An Armyman, Dorzian died on the spot after he was hit by an unknown vehicle near the Kali Paltan bridge on the G.T. Road here in the Cantt yesterday. The police have registered a case.
