Slamming Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray for his intervention on the issue of the Parliament privilege committee planning to send a notice to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray over writings in the party’s mouthpiece about North Indians, the Sena said it was capable of dealing with the issue and its fallout. In an editorial of the party’s mouthpiece Saamna on Wednesday, “Kalaji nasavi, aamhi samartha aahot” (Don’t worry, we are capable enough), Bal Thackeray in a strongly worded attack asked Raj why he quit the Sena if he was concerned about him.The editorial further said that the “Sena never had to take help from traitors to set Maharashtra afire. Our Shiv Sainiks are sufficient for it.”“Till the Shiv Sena is there, no one will dare mete out injustice to the Maharashtrians,” it said, adding that doing so would be self destructive. “Where did Raj Thackeray’s love for Marathi and me go when he quit the strong Shiv Sena which represents the Maharashtrians?” questioned Thackeray, adding that the MNS and Raj had split the unity of the Maharashtrians.Raj Thackeray had earlier warned that no elected representative or official from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar would be allowed to set foot in Maharashtra if a notice of the privilege committee was sent to his uncle.“When someone tries to do or talk untoward about us, then Maharashtra automatically flares up,” said the editorial, which compared Raj with the mythical ‘Samb’—a character from the Mahabharata, who was eventually responsible for the destruction of Krishna’s clan of Yadavas. The editorial also compared Bal Thackeray with Chhatrapati Shivaji, who also had to face opposition from his kith and kin.Mocking Raj’s concerns about the Sena supremo’s health, the editorial further stated, “We have faced so many attacks (of treachery) on our back that there may be no place left on our back anymore to bear fresh wounds from any new attacks.” The editorial also said that MNS was probably try to use Thackeray’s name for publicity. It also mocked the breach of privilege issue and added that the editorial in Saamna was penned after a couple of Bihar MPs had said that Maharashtrian brains staying near the sea were rotten.
