CHANDIGARH, June 12: A division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court comprising Justices V. K. Jhanji and Swatantar Kumar today extended the bail granted to Kerman K.Mistry, an accused in a rape case, till July 24 next and also directed that the prosecutees be produced in the court on the said date.
Earlier, the defence counsel contended that Mistry had been falsely implicated in the case which was clear from the fact that the alleged prosecutees Manju and the middleman had reportedly vanished from the scene and the Chandigarh Police was unable to trace them.
The court also asked the Union Territory counsel to assist the court and not to shield the Chandigarh Police officials in case they had registered a false case against the petitioner.
