NEW DELHI, August 5: The 49 students arrested for storming into Andhra Pradesh Bhawan on July 31 and breaking windows, doors and furniture were granted bail today. Additional Sessions Judge Sharda Aggarwal granted them bail on a bond of Rs 5,000 each and one surety of the same amount.

On the afternoon of July 31, students belonging to the All India Revolutionary Student’s Federation (AIRSF) went to AP Bhawan to protest against the killing of former AIRSF general secretary Janardhan in a “fake encounter” by the AP Special Task Force in Warangal on July 25.

Nearly hundred students from the Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru universities wanted to submit a memorandum to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, but were prevented from doing so by the police. The students then broke the windows of Naidu’s gypsy. While some of them pelted stones at other vehicles in the parking lot, others entered the building and started breaking the furniture.

The police arrested 49 students on the same day. Their earlier bail applications were rejected on August 1 and 3.
