AWWA opens shopping complex

AMBALA, Jan 19: Celebrating 1999 as the quot;Year of the Jawanquot;, Shivjot Sihota, president, Kharga Army Wives Welfare Association and wife of Lt Gen G.S. Sihota AVSM, VrC, VM, GOC, inaugurated the Kharga Shopping Complex at Ambala cantonment.

The Kharga AWWA has undertaken numerous welfare activities for Jawans and their families and the quot;proxy warquot; affected persons. Some of these welfare activities are Asha School for physically and mentally challenged children, Asha Shiksha Kendra conducting vocational training for Jawans8217; families in tailoring, embroidery, typing, computers and a poly clinic.

The Kharga AWWA, having identified the grey areas requiring improvement in the daily life of the Jawans, have planned to execute various welfare projects during 1999.
