Arjun Atwal had a modest start at the Zurich Classic golf tournament at New Orleans, shooting an even par 72 at the 7,341-yard TPC Louisiana.
Atwal, returning to the PGA Tour after more than a month, had three each of birdies and bogeys as he started on the tenth. He ended the day with a bogey on the par-3 ninth, where he went into the water and had to take a penalty. He was tied 77th and was way off the leader, Kyle Reifers, a rookie, who shot a record eight-under 64 to take a two-shot lead.
Atwal was one of the two who held the course record of 65 set in 2005 when the Indian finished tied fifth.
He shared the course record with Chris DiMarco.
