JAMMU, OCTOBER 18: Putting all speculations at rest, star cricketer Ajay Jadeja arrived here on Monday and joined the J&K Ranji squad in the coaching camp organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at MA Stadium, here late in the evening though for a brief spell.

Earlier, Jadeja was expected to join the J&K squad after Diwali, just few days before the first four-day match at MA Stadium, here, between J&K and Haryana on October 30. This delay was being attributed to his marriage which was to be solemnised on October 19 at Delhi.

But after the postponement of the marriage, Jadeja landed here this afternoon and joined the net in the evening for a brief spell. However, from today onwards, he will practice with the J&K probables at the University of Jammu grounds in the morning session of the coaching-cum-selection camp from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Later, he will be part of the camp in the evening session at the stadium from 3 p.m. onwards.

An interesting feature of Jadeja’s joining the state squad is that the Haryana lad will be playing against his previous home team in first match of the forthcoming Ranji session from J&K side and since he is well aware of the game of Haryana players, he is sure to help J&K offer tough fight to Haryana.

Besides Jadeja, another Indian player Ajay Sharma, who belongs to village Painthal in Udhampur district but having shifted to Delhi, has also showed his willingness to play Ranji from J&K. Though at present, he is not registered with the JKCA, but as per reports he can be registered any day.

Jadeja had got himself registered with JKCA in December last after severing his links with the Haryana Cricket Association following some differences with the association’s office bearers. But even after his registration with the JKCA, he could not join the state team following his busy schedule in the international cricket matches. But after he, along with some other players were not included in the Indian team following the charges of match fixing, he has, perhaps, decided to give time to the State players.

Meanwhile, state cricketers are jubilant over Jadeja’s arrival and have expressed their pleasure. Former state Ranji captain, Ashwini Gupta, who is still representing the state, and Des Rattan Dubey, cricketer and JKCA member said that Jadeja’s name only is morale boaster for the State players. Sports-lovers are also happy and are waiting to see Jadeja in action.
