
Russian media tycoon freed: Lawyer
MOSCOW: Russian independent media tycoon Vladimir Gusinsky was released from prison late on Friday but placed under house arrest, the Interfax news agency reported, citing court sources. Prosecutors had earlier charged Gusinsky with 8220;massive fraud8221; and refused to release him on bail, according to his lawyer Genry Reznik.
Sexual attacks: More arrests made
NEW YORK: The number of men arrested in the wake of sexual attacks in Central Park here rose to 13 on Friday, after 44 women complained of sexual assaults, police said. Three more men were taken into custody the same day, officials said. Among those arrested is Manuel Vargas, 18, who is suspected of leading the mob assaults, arrested on Thursday night. Witnesses describe a group of about 40 men, who attacked, disrobed and fondled several young women shortly after the traditional Puerto Rican parade.
