If assistant coach Jagbir Singh said that pressure was on Paksitan to perform in front the home crowd, his counterpart Asif Bajwa would not agree with him. ‘‘Playing in front of almost 40-50,000 people is always an advantage for us and India will definitely feel the pressure,’’ he said. But Bajwa conceded that the absence of Adrian D’Souza would affect India’s chances.

‘‘Adrian has done very well for India in recent months. It will be good if he plays tomorrow, but if he pulls out of tomorrow’s game then his absence will boost our chances,’’ he admitted.

Bajwa also said that Pakistan would try out some variations, especially in penalty corner conversions, and new combinations to score goals.

This was to counter Adrian’s dash down the ground and his dives, he revealed.

Bajwa is tipped to take over as next coach of Pakistan team after Roeland Oeltmans’ contract ends post-Champions Trophy. But he refused to commit himself.

The hype-surrounding play-off for the bronze medal apart, the title clash for the tournament will be an all-European affair between defending champions Holland and first-time finalists Spain.
