.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has ordered the opening of the Bhojshala/ Kamal Maula mosque complex in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh for Hindus every Tuesday. The order is being sent to the state Home Secretary and Dhar District Collector.

Stating that law and order is a matter of state subject, the order from ASI Director-General Gauri Chatterjee, it is learnt, is a reiteration of Culture and Tourism Minister Jagmohan’s statement of February 26, wherein he said while Muslims could offer prayers on Fridays, Hindus should be allowed access on Tuesdays.

It may be recalled that CM Digvijay Singh had said his government cannot change the timings for entry into the shrine without an ASI order. Sources said the ASI order specifies that Hindus be allowed to perform puja every Tuesday with flowers and rice and Muslims be allowed to offer namaz on every Friday for two hours.
