After making Formula BMW Asia history by becoming the youngest winner at Malaysia, sixteen-year-old Armaan Ebrahim is set for another record. With Team A1 India nominating him for this weekend’s Grand Prix in Portugal, Armaan will become the youngest among the 24 drivers to take the grid at the Autodrome Do Estoril track.

‘‘It’s a tough ask, but I’m determined to put my best foot forward’’, Armaan told The Indian Express from Portugal.

Sunday’s drive will be a giant leap for the Chennai lad as it’s the first time he’ll be racing a 550 bhp car — it’s 400 bhp more than the FBMW car he’s driven.

Asked how he would cope, Armaan confidently said, “In Lauitz, Germany, I almost had the same time as my teammate Karun (Chandok) in practice despite the track being dusty when I drove.”

In fact, even BMW Motorsport Director Mario Thiessen who was present during the last race at China was impressed with the showing and promised to keep in touch with him.
