While Pakistani troops continued mortar shelling and firing at various places along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) today, militants carried out three separate attacks, killing four armymen and one CRPF jawan in Udhampur and Doda since last night. Ten people were injured in the incidents. A mine protection vehicle was also damaged in one of the attacks.
The attacks, which came six days after the fidayeen attack on the Kaluchak army camp, appear to be part of the ISI strategy to build pressure on Indian troops both on the border and inside.

According to the police, three army personnel and a CRPF jawan were killed when three heavily armed men attacked their camp at Chasana in Mahore tehsil late last night. The security forces retaliated, killing one of the militants on the spot. His two accomplices, however, managed to
escape.
The police said the militants hurled grenades and gunned down the sentry on duty at the camp. They then went inside and resorted to indiscriminate firing, killing three on the spot. Eight securitymen were injured in the shootout.
The CRPF personnel had taken charge of the area only a few hours
earlier following reports that militants were moving freely after the shifting of Mountain Brigade from there to Kalakote a few days ago. This had led to many families shifting from Narlakote and Mankote to Reasi and Udhampur.
Three of the injured security personnel have been admitted to the district hospital at Rajouri. They are Farooq, Khema and Suram Chand, all from the police.
In another incident, an army jawan was killed and two injured as militants opened fire on a mine protection vehicle (MPV) near Nowgam on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The attack came around 9:30 am when the MPV vehicle, along with a road opening party (ROP), was scanning the NH to clear it of any improvised explosive device (IED).
Reinforcements were rushed to the area and a search for the militants was launched.
Late in the afternoon, four BSF personnel were injured seriously when a gypsy they were travelling in was blown up in a powerful IED blast near Sunjmahadev in Udhampur district. Police said the blast occurred at 1:35 pm when four BSF vehicles were passing through the area. The fourth vehicle was hit by the IED.
This was the second IED blast in Udhampur district in 12 hours. Yesterday, in a similar blast at Basantgarh, three people, including an assistant executive engineer (AEE) of Public Works Department, had been injured.
