NOV 11: After loan melas, now it’s job melas. That too in the fancied infotech sector. Bangalore-based job search firm Headhunter which has set up its website prizedjobs.com and held free `job melas’ in different parts of Indian cities will be coming to Mumbai next week. After the successful launch in Chennai, Bangalore and Pune, the mela will now be held in the city between November 17 and 19 for about 3,500 openings in the IT sector in India and abroad.
Decision makers and HRD executives from around 40 companies are expected to interview the prosperous candidates for vacancies around the globe, particularly in the United States and Europe. Among the Indian companies which have confirmed their participation are TCS, Satyam, HCL, CBSI, Patni Computers and L&T, while the US companies include IMR Global, Mastek, Bitech. IT firms from Europe will also be in the fray.
"In the previous fairs, nearly 1,518 experienced candidates were given offer on the spot out of 6,765 who attended the interview. Another 3,710 have been shortlisted for final interview on a later day. About 12,755 freshers attended interviews, whose resumes will now be posted on prizedjobs.com for further perusals," said K Lakshmikant, founder and MD of prizedjobs.com.
“Many of the participants attend the mela just to know what they are worth in the booming IT sector. Not only that, well experienced engineers go around attending interviews in different stalls and raise their demands with each successful offer,” says an official of the organising committee.
Prizedjobs.com started with a seed capital of Rs 10 crore with Sify investing Rs 4 crore to pick up 27 per cent stake. Besides US-based Carlyle Group, an angel firm owned by former US President George Bush Sr has invested 10 per cent and the rest of the stake is with Lakshmikant.
