Chandigarh, Nov 21: Amritinder Singh became richer by Rs 1,33,280. Along with it came the title he won in the Rs 8 lakh Hero Golf Chandigarh Open at the Chandigarh Golf Course here. It was after a gap of two years that he has won a championship. His previous title was came in the 1996 DCM-SRF Open in New Delhi.
Comfortably placed with an eight-stroke lead at the end of the penultimate round yesterday, Amritinder carded two-over par 74 for an aggregate six-under par 282.
On the first nines he hit one birdie (second hole) and one bogey (fifth hole) for a par 36. However, he dropped one stroke each on the 15th and 18th holes (missed a chip-putt) for two-over par 38 on the return journey.Jeev Milkha Singh, with three second-spot finishes in the three consecutive weeks, had to remain content with another runners-up title with an aggregate two-under par 286 (73+69+73+71). By finishing second, he received a cheque for Rs 88,880.
