MUMBAI, OCT 11: Air-India, the Wifa Super Division Football champions, were shocked 1-0 by CST Road, Vidyanagari Marg in the 12-team Kalina Football league at St Mary’s ground, Kalina, on Sunday. Neil D’Costa scored the match-winner. CST Road have displaced Air-India at the top of the league table, having 18 points to the latter’s 16. All the teams have played seven matches each.

In another upset, Dean Netto scored the match-winning goal in Nester Compound’s 1-0 win over Indian Airlines.

Mikhail nets twice

Mikhail Shetty scored twice as Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Chembur won 2-1 against St. Xavier’s, Fort, in the under-10 semi-finals of the MSSA-Colgate Inter-Schools Football tournament being played at the MSSA Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan here today.

In the final, OLPS will meet St.Mary’s øSSC who won 1-0 against Holy Family, Andheri.

Wallnuts winners

Wallnuts trounced Perpetual Resort 6-0 in the finals of the Silverline 9th Our Lady of Pereptual Succour, Chembur, parish football tournament on Sunday. Hanzel D’Silva did most of the damage, scoring four of the six goals. Dominic Fernandes and Joel Fonseca played the supporting cast.

Vaze spikers reign

VG Vaze defeated Bansidhar Agarwal 25-21 25-13 to clinch the DSO-organised women’s festival division volleyball title at Mulund on Sunday. Vaze were served by the powerful smashing of Nationals Sonal Naik and Rajashri Kulkarni, and the fine all-round showing of Deborah Bhonkar.

Vaze will represent Mumbai in the state championship at Pune on October 15.

Jogesh shines

Jogesh Sharma of Podar Judo Club won the gold medal in the open category andbelow 90 kg weight to complete Mumbai’s domination in the Maharashtra Judo tournament held at Pune from October 7 to 9.

Ashwin Dar (above 73 kg) and Harshil Shah (below 66kg) in junior boys; M Shradha (above 63 kg) and Chanda Mhasilkar (below 44 kg) in junior girls, Kumar Shirke (below 25kg) and Yashodhara Patil (below 40 kg) in the sub-junior boys and girls respectively were the other gold medal winners in the championships.
