CHANDIGARH, Feb 24: As many as 49 teachers, pensioners and other employees from Amritsar of the Punjab State Aided School Teachers and other Employees Union led by Teja Singh, the president of the union, courted arrest today at the Civil Secretariat.

The teachers are protesting the non-implementation of their demands which they allege have already been settled by the Punjab Finance Minister Kanwaljit Singh. They have already decided to boycott the duties in connection with Matric and Plus Two examinations this year.

According to Surinder Sharma, the press and publicity secretary, stated that the final phase of the agitation has started and these chain arrests would continue till their demands are implemented.
