5 children killed
Five children were killed and eight others were injured when a truck overturned on them near Pansia village in Palanpur taluka of Banaskantha district late on Tuesday night. The children, in the age group of 10 to 12 years, were walking to Danta village to watch `garba’ when at around 11 p.m. a speeding truck overturned on them.

Flight IC-862 of the same dates has been combined with IC-850. It will depart Ahmedabad at 8.45 p.m. and reach Delhi at 10.10 p.m. Flight IC-951 of October 2 has been combined with IC-917 and will depart from Chennai at 10.30 a.m. and reach Ahmedabad at 3.25 p.m. Flight IC-952 will leave Ahmedabad at 4.10 p.m. and reach Chennai at 7.40 p.m.
Seminar
A seminar on `Agenda beyond vote (politics)’ will be organised by the Ahmedabad Industrial and Other Employers Union in the ATIRA auditorium on October 2.
Awarded
Governor Anshuman Singh awarded meritious students of HSC and SSC March 1998. He pointed out that the fact that there were 53 girls receiving the awards out of a 84 students pointed out that women’s education in the State was quite high. It was organised by Gujarat Secondary Education Board at Tagore Hall.
AISO protests
All Gujarat Students Organisation (AISO) and Gujart Students’ Force (GSF) shouted slogans and held a protest meeting outside the Vidhan Sabha to voice their grievances against corruption in the university.
Results out
Results of diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery examinations held in August 1998 were declared on Wednesday.
