CHANDIGARH, Feb 2: President of the National Adventure Club (India) Ram S Varma said here today that a National Adventure Academy would be set up at Panchkula to promote adventure activities. Varma, who is also the Chief Secretary, Haryana, announced this while inaugurating the fifth National Adventure Sports Festival.
NAC senior vice-president Sanjay Kothari said that only those who had earlier not taken part in the national adventure had been allowed to take part in the festival. NAC would confer Bharat Gaurav Puruskar jointly to Dicky Dolma and Deepu Sharma for their outstanding achievement in mountaineering. Adamya Sahas Puruskar were being given to Sabita Kumari Panda and Rajiv Midha for scaling `Mount Kamet.’
The sports activities this year include trekking, roller skating, rock climbing, skiing, river rafting, parasailing, kayayking and canoeing.
