Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should adopt a flexible approach on Kashmir issue during his proposed visit to Pakistan for resolution of the problem, National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah said on Tuesday.
“Kashmiris will get their peace of mind only after the issue is resolved. They have been badly hit by the situation … economy is in tatters and thousands are unemployed,” he told a public meeting in Pahalgam.
The former Chief Minister asked the Prime Minister to adopt a flexible approach on Kashmir issue during his proposed visit to Islamabad.
This was imperative for resolution of the lingering problem, he said.
Referring to the Congress-PDP government in the state, the National Conference veteran alleged it had failed on all fronts.
Farooq’s son and NC president Omar Abdullah, who spoke at the meeting, also came down heavily on the coalition government.
It had no achievement to its credit and problems of the masses had multiplied during its rule, he said.
“Twelve Ministers have been found involved in a sex scandal but no action has been taken against them,” Omar said.
