CHANDIGARH, Sept 8: A total of 1.9 lakh new telephones lines will be added during the year 1998-99 in Punjab. This was stated by the Chief General Manager, Punjab, R. N. Sharma while holding a meeting with Punjab MPs at the Punjab Bhawan, here today. The capacity addition in Punjab will be 2.88 lakh.

According to a press statement issued by the Department of Telecom, 364 village exchanges are also being planned during the year. Satya Pal Jain, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Zora Singh Mann, Satnam Singh Kainth, Tarlochan Singh Toor, Rajmohinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh Libra, all MPs attended the meeting.
