The West Bengal government will take action against the ADC to Governor Viren J. Shah, Anirban Roy, for levelling corruption charges against Shah and his other ADC, Asutosh Sarengi.
In a hurriedly-called press conference last night, Roy had alleged that the electricity bills of the Governor8217;s House in Maharashtra are paid from the West Bengal exchequer. He had also charged that important documents relating to national interest were being leaked out from the Raj Bhavan.
8216;8216;Money is being paid to bring documents out of Raj Bhavan. What is happening there is quite serious,8217;8217; the IPS officer, who is now staying at the guest-house of a Central Government organisation, said.
The government has reacted sharply to his allegations. 8216;8216;We saw in the newspapers about the officer8217;s allegations,8217;8217; Chief Secretary Sourin Roy told reporters. 8216;8216;We checked about the officer and found that he had not been keeping well both mentally and physically. In any case, the way a government officer like him had called a press conference and publicly levelled allegations amount to gross indiscipline and flouting of government rules and we will take appropriate action against him,8217;8217; Roy said.
The reaction from the Raj Bhavan was also on similar lines. 8216;8216;Roy has not been keeping well and has not been attending duty for the past 3 days. Charges levelled by him are baseless,8217;8217; a statement issued from the Raj Bhavan said, adding that 8216;8216;The Raj Bhavan does not enter into any controversy.8217;8217;
Earlier, Shah had been charged with misbehaviour towards a noted Bengali author and a minister.
