KOLHAPUR, Nov 4: Film actor Raj Kiran was arrested for manhandling a travel ticket examiner (TTE) while he was under the influence of alcohol at south central railway’s Miraj railway station at midnight yesterday.
The incident took place, in the air-conditioned compartment of the Kolhapur-Mumbai Sahyadri Express. Raj Kiran was travelling to Mumbai after shooting for a serial in Kolhapur.
According to the railway police at Miraj, the actor had a heated exchange of words with TTE B.R. Patil as the latter had asked some warkaris, who were travelling in the compartment without proper tickets, to get into second class. When the TTE threw away the luggage of one of the warkaris, Rajkiran intervened and asked the TTE to behave properly. Things turned worse when he lost his temper and manhandled the TTE. He was arrested by PSI R.B. Shende under section 146 of the Indian Railways Act.
The film actor was later brought to the court before judicial magistrate Kshirsagar, and was released on bail of Rs two thousand.
