Major Surendra Singh and Colonel K.D. Singh, allegedly involved in a fake encounter at Siachen, would give their ‘summary evidence’ tomorrow before a military court, holding open trial in the case.

Following completion of the Court of Inquiry (CoI), the Army will now record summary evidence against those found guilty by the CoI, Defence sources said today.

The officers and a few other accused would submit their written statements before the military court, the sources added. All proceedings will be conducted in-camera.

The trial was shifted to the defence area here after Major Surinder Singh had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to move the trial to a location outside Jammu and Kashmir where he would get a fair chance to defend himself.

Officers of the Gorkha Regiment are alleged to have faked the killing of Pakistani soldiers and destruction of enemy bunkers at Siachen glacier in August, 2003 and provided video recordings of it, apparently to win medals.
