KHARAR, Oct 20: Diwali was celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour in Kharar and its surrounding areas on Monday. Houses, buildings and streets in the township were illuminated with candles and colourful lights as people exchanged sweets and gifts. Devotees offered prayers at the Lakshmi Narayana and Shiva temples.
Mohali fire officer B S Sandhu, told ENS that no fire was reported on Diwali in Kharar and Mohali. However, a hoax call was received on Monday night, wherein a fire was reported at Madanpura village of Mohali. However, firemen, on reaching the spot, found that there was no fire. Reports from Kharar Civil Hospital said that no major case of burns or injuries was reported to the hospital. Kharar DSP and SDM confirmed that no untoward incident was reported in any part of the sub-division.
