A Gandhi by any other name

This was one slip Chief Minister Madhu Koda of Jharkhand was perhaps not overly embarrassed about. He had talked of the “martyr Sonia Gandhi” at a function to observe Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary on October 31. But Koda is in august company, no less than the Congress party itself. Party mouthpiece Congress Sandesh recently hailed the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as AICC General Secretary and then began referring to him as Rajiv Gandhi in subsequent lines. Take a load of this: “The recent reshuffle has put in place a formidable team of young Congressmen and women under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi. India is a young country and it is time for the young members of the Congress party to move into positions of responsibility. Rajiv Gandhi has already shown his hands-on attitude by visiting the AICC offices frequently and interacting with office-bearers. This is a positive step for the party and will send out an encouraging message to the youth of the country.” Well, you could now call Sandesh the foot-in-the-mouthpiece.
