NEW DELHI, JULY 25: The Delhi police announced on Saturday that soon after the Madan Bhaiya encounter at Ashoka Hotel, four of his associates who were fleeing the hotel were arrested near Bihar Bhawan.According to the police, Madan Bhaiya had used his cellphone to call up Jagdish Prasad, Vikram Khari, Arun and Sanjay - who were still inside the hotel - and asked them to run after spotting the police trap. The four got into two cars - a Tata Indica and a Maruti 800 - and drove out of the entry gate. A waiting police team, led by anti-auto theft squad chief Raman Lamba, gave the four gangsters a chase and caught up with them near Bihar Bhawan.Preliminary interrogation has revealed that these four were acting as the go-betweens of Madan Bhaiya and the gangsters who are holding Meerut-based businessman Swatantra Rastogi hostage. There are still no concrete clues about the whereabouts of Rastogi. While addressing a press conference on Saturday, DCP (south) Sudhir Yadav said: ``All these arrestedpersons are known lieutenants of Madan Bhaiya and are involved in his nefarious activities.'' A .30 mauser along with three rounds of ammunition have been recovered from Arun Kumar. The two cars in which they were travelling and their two cellphones have also been seized, DCP Yadav said. The police are now in the process of obtaining printouts of their cellphone records to trace the kidnapping plan reportedly made over these phones. In a related development, following crucial disclosures by the arrested Samajwadi Party ex-MLA Madan Bhaiya, the Uttar Pradesh police picked up prominent industrialist and Congress leader Arun Jain for questioning. An ex-Mayor and head of Electra India Ltd, Jain was apparently with Rastogi when he was kidnapped on July 11 on a bypass road near Meerut. Jain also happens to be a complainant of the kidnapping case.
