CHANDIGARH, Sept 22: The Haryana Police today claimed to have arrested 35 criminals belonging to various gangs. The criminals include inter-state operators involved in a number of cases of loot and dacoity in Jind district during the last three months.

A police spokesman said that three persons, including a resident of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested for robbing cash amounting to nearly Rs 25,000 from gur sellers at Frayan Kalan village. Two others were arrested for snatching a four-wheeler at gun point near Dumrakha village. Rs 3,65,040 was recovered from them.

Three criminals, Rajesh, Nafe Singh and Ram Niwas — all residents of Dhasokhurd — were arrested for snatching Rs 2,000. The amount has been recovered. Jai Parkash, a resident of Kagsar, was arrested for trying to loot some money at gun-point from the shop of Ram Pratap Mahajan, a resident of Anaj Mandi, Jind.

Satish, Naresh, Ram Niwas and Jaibir Singh has been arrested for firing at Surinder Singh, a teacher. The Tata Sumo that the criminals had used was recovered. They had snatched the vehicle at Kalanaur and used it for committing the crime.The spokesman said that six members of Jagta gang — Jagat Singh alias Jagta, Satbir, Baljit Singh, Dinesh, Surinder Singh and Baljit — had been arrested for murdering Sat Narayan and Prem in a land dispute. The gang had also committed a number of other crimes including taking Rs 5 lakh as ransom from Pinky Mahajan of Uklana, stealing a motor cycle from Nagura, snatching a Maruti car near Kuchrana, taking a ransom of Rs 40 lakh after kidnapping Ashok Thakur from Hisar.

They had also snatched Rs 90,000 from a motor cycle rider at Pundri. A murder case was registered against them at Hansi. All the property and cash snatched by them in these cases have been recovered.

Four criminals — Diwana, Suraj Bhan, Dharam Pal and Randhir — involved in looting jewellery and cash from the parents of Sunder Singh, a resident of Ghimana, have been arrested and the property looted has been recovered. The seven gang members headed by Satbir alias Jabbal, were arrested for looting about Rs 8,000 and a car of Pradeep, a kiln owner and a resident of Safidon.

They had committed other crimes including looting money from a petrol pump at Harsola in Kaithal, stealing a motor cycle at Jind, looting Rs 5,000 from a petrol pump at Narwana and snatching Rs 1.05 lakh from a patwari at Sahanpur. They had also snatched a Maruti car and Rs 10,000 from a tehsildar in Assandh. All the property has been recovered.

Five members of a gang headed by Kuldeep alias Kala, from Ghiral, were arrested while planning a dacoity.

They had committed a number of crimes including stealing a motor cycle, looting liquor and beer from a liquor vend at Chanat, looting Rs 4,000 from a petrol pump at Bawani Khera, about Rs 28,000 from a petrol pump at Biran in Bhiwani and snatching cars at Dadri and Adampur. They had also looted a cloth seller on the Delhi road near Hisar.
