It was the day of justice for the father of Karthik Raj, the national junior tennis champion murdered by a friend and three others three years ago. Three of them were pronounced guilty by a city court today. Their sentences will be handed out on May 17. One of the killers has turned approver.

‘‘I have already lost my son. Now, I feel that I will be given justice,’’ said S. Ram Raj, Karthik’s father after Additional Sessions Judge S.M. Shembole convicted the four accused. Brother Santosh Raj, friends and family members of the accused were also present in the court.

Karthik was murdered by his friend, Santosh Satish Bhushan Bariyar, and three others on August 8, 2001.

The others convicted are Sanjivkumar Mahendra Prasad Rai, Santoshkumar Shrijaylal Rai and Kumar Gaurav Shrimanibhushan, who has turned approver. The four had strangled Karthik and chopped his body to pieces.
