The BJP has roped in at least 24 party workers owing allegiance to the rebel group led by former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and fielded them in different Assembly constituencies to contest the polls on December 11 and 16. Nineteen among the Keshubhai loyalists are sitting MLAs, four, Jay Narayan Vyas, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Atmaram Parmar and Vasan Ahir, are former legislators, and one is an ex-MP, Dilip Sanghani.Vyas and Vaghela were senior ministers in the Keshubhai Government. A senior dissident leader said the BJP was apprehensive that the party would be rocked by rebellion, if all its sitting MLAs loyal to the Keshubhai faction were dropped from the list of candidates.
